The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has received an official petition from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) regarding an alleged incident involving popular musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM 1, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The incident, which occurred on August 5, 2025, is said to involve KWAM 1 engaging in unruly conduct that allegedly obstructed the safe operation of an aircraft.
This action reportedly violates the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023, and has raised serious concerns about passenger safety and the integrity of airport operations.
In response to the incident, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has directed the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, to launch a thorough investigation. The objective is to determine the full circumstances of the incident and ensure appropriate justice is served.
“The Nigeria Police Force is committed to upholding safety and security in Nigeria’s aviation sector,” stated DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer. “We assure the public and stakeholders in the aviation industry of our continued collaboration to ensure aviation security and strict adherence to aviation laws.”
As the investigation progresses, the police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining high safety standards across Nigerian airports, emphasizing that all individuals, regardless of their status, will be held accountable for any actions that jeopardize the safety of air travel.
The investigation is expected to provide more clarity on the events leading to the incident and determine whether any legal or regulatory violations occurred.
