The Inspector-General of Police has ordered a full-scale investigation into a tragic incident in Oyo State involving officers from the Oyo State Police Command and the Oyo State Traffic Management Authority (OYTMA).
The incident led to the death of a 14-year-old boy, Kehinde Alade, in what has been described as a police-related shooting.
The IGP in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi expressed deep sorrow over the boy’s death and confirmed that the officer involved has been taken into custody as part of the investigation process.
“The Inspector-General of Police condemned the incident and assured that the process will be transparent, and its findings will be made public to ensure justice is duly served,” the official statement noted.
He also extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to accountability and justice.
The NPF urged all citizens to remain law-abiding and to seek redress through lawful and peaceful means, assuring continued dedication to the protection of lives and property.
