The first female Accountant-General of the Federation, is set to marks her 61st birthday, presentation of her new book and the official launching of a new foundation.
In a landmarks celebration, the event will hold on Saturday March 7, at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, as Dr. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein and her husband Engineer Adeleke Madein we formally unveil the book titled: ” Beyond the ledger- A journey in public finance and governance: Musings of the first Female Accountant-General of the federation.”
The Secretary, Event Planning Committee, Mr. Temitope Oyekan in a Statement said the publication chronicles her over three decades of distinguished service in Nigeria’s public financial management system, offering insights into fiscal governance, institutional reforms, and leadership within the Federal Civil Service.
Mr.Oyekan said the author will also used the occasion to launch Olowo Oloye Foundation for Empowerment and Education. The Foundation is a non-governmental organisation established in memory of his late father, Pa Surakat Sanni (also known as Olowo Oloye), to support vulnerable populations, promote access to education, empower women and youth, and advance sustainable community development initiatives.
He noted that the initiative underscores Dr. Madein’s enduring commitment to social impact and inclusive development.
The celebration also marks one year since her retirement from the Federal Civil Service, concluding an exemplary career defined by discipline, integrity, and transformational leadership in public finance administration.
“Dr. Madein’s appointment as Accountant-General of the Federation represented a historic milestone in Nigeria’s financial governance landscape, breaking a long-standing gender barrier and broadening opportunities for women in public sector leadership. Throughout her tenure, she strengthened financial systems, enhanced accountability frameworks, and supported effective policy implementation through sound fiscal management practices.”
Mr. Oyekan described her as an accomplished finance professional, Dr. Madein is a member and fellow of several reputable professional bodies, including the:Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom,Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN),International Association of Strategic Professionals (IASP),Society for West African International Audit Practitioners (SWAIAP), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN)
However, her outstanding contributions to public service have earned her several prestigious recognitions, including: Guardian Newspapers Seven Wonder Women Award, she was listed as one of the 50 Power People in Africa by Exquisite Magazine in partnership with African Women CEOs Network, to honour people who embody resilience, leadership, and advocate for women empowerment and inclusion in the African Continent and several others recognition.
Some of the special guests expected at the event include, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, Sir. Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu, the Balogun and Babaoba of Iperu Akesanland, and the Odole of Ife as the Chairman and Chief Launcher; while Dr. (Mrs.) Folasade Yemi-Esan, former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation will serve as the Book Reviewer.
Other guests expected at the event according to the statement are Dr. Joke
Sofowora, His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo of Remoland as Royal Father of the Day; while Aremo Olusegun Osoba,
former Governor of Ogun State, is the Father of the Day; and Dr. (Mrs.) Oluremi Aribisala, the pioneer Director General of Raw Materials Research and Development Council is the Mother of the Day.
