A new chapter has begun for the National Association of Judiciary Correspondents (NAJUC), Ikeja Branch, following the election and swearing-in of a fresh set of executive officers who will lead the association for the next two years.
The inauguration ceremony was held on Thursday at the NAJUC Press Centre within the Lagos State High Court premises in Ikeja. The event brought together judiciary reporters, media professionals, and invited guests, all gathered to witness the leadership transition.
Emerging as the new Chairman is Mr. Azeez Folorunso of Rulers’ World Magazine and Online. He is joined by Mrs. Adenike Ayodele of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as General Secretary and Mr. Stephen Aya of ThisDay as Treasurer. All three candidates were elected unopposed—a development lauded by members as a sign of harmony and shared purpose within the association.
Administering the oath of office was Mr. Wahab Abdullahi, a seasoned legal practitioner, who urged the new leadership to be beacons of accountability and ethical conduct.
“You are the face of the judiciary to the public,” he said. “Lead with honor, and let transparency and professionalism guide your every action.”
In his post-inauguration remarks, Mr. Folorunso expressed deep appreciation to members for their trust and confidence.

“We are fully aware of the expectations,” he said. “Our administration will prioritize transparency, unity among members, and continuous professional development.”
Mrs. Ayodele, the new General Secretary, echoed the chairman’s commitment and pledged to ensure smooth and effective coordination of the association’s operations.
“Our goal is to uphold the principles and constitution of NAJUC while ensuring that the voices of judiciary correspondents are well represented,” she stated.
The election took place during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association, presided over by Mrs. Kemi Fola-Adeyemo of TVC, who led the Caretaker Committee. She commended the members for their conduct and the peaceful nature of the election.
“This election reflects the unity and maturity that NAJUC Ikeja stands for,” she said. “We are confident that this new team will carry the torch forward with purpose.”
With the mantle of leadership officially passed on, the new executives have pledged to uphold the constitution and laws guiding NAJUC Ikeja and work collectively to advance the welfare of its members and the integrity of judiciary reporting in Lagos.
