The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest of six suspects in connection with the deadly attack on Police Tactical Teams at Agu Centre, Katsina-Ala/Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State. The attack, carried out by suspected armed herdsmen and local militias on Friday, September 19, 2025, claimed the lives of three police officers, while seven others remain missing.
The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, is currently leading an intensive operation aimed at rescuing the missing officers and apprehending those still at large.
In a statement on Sunday, Force Public Relations Officer CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, condemned the incident, describing it as “cruel, unwarranted, and an affront on the good people of Benue State.”
The IGP directed the deployment of additional tactical assets to reinforce security operations in the area and assured that “no stone will be left unturned” in restoring peace and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Police authorities noted that the arrested suspects are already providing useful information that could aid the rescue mission and ongoing investigations.
Meanwhile, the Force has appealed to residents of Benue State to remain calm and vigilant, urging them to support security agencies as efforts intensify to track down fleeing suspects, rescue the missing officers, and dismantle the criminal networks behind the attack.
