A court has remanded former Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Danladi Umar, in a correctional centre pending the determination of proceedings in a case brought against him.
The order was made after Umar was arraigned before the court on charges filed by the prosecution. Following arguments from both parties, the court directed that he be remanded in custody and adjourned the matter to a later date for the continuation of proceedings.
The case marks a significant development involving the former CCT chairman, who presided over several high-profile cases during his tenure. Further details of the charges and the court’s rulings are expected as the proceedings continue.
The prosecution is expected to present its case at the next adjourned date, while the defence is likely to seek reliefs available under the law.
