The Lagos State Judiciary has announced the passing of one of its respected jurists, Hon. Justice Josephine Efunkumbi Oyefeso, who died at the age of 65.
In an official statement, the judiciary described her death as a significant loss to the legal profession and the administration of justice in Lagos State.
Justice Oyefeso was remembered for her years of service on the bench, where she was said to have demonstrated dedication, integrity and professionalism in the discharge of her duties. According to the statement, she earned the respect of colleagues within the judiciary and members of the legal community through her commitment to fairness and justice.
The Lagos State Judiciary noted that her contributions played a role in the growth and development of the judicial system in the state, adding that her impact would be remembered by both the Bench and the Bar.
The statement, issued on behalf of the Chief Judge, judges, magistrates and staff of the Lagos State Judiciary, extended condolences to her family, associates and colleagues during the period of mourning.
“Hon. Justice Oyefeso served the Judiciary with exceptional dedication, integrity and unwavering commitment to the administration of justice,” the statement read.
Her passing marks the end of a judicial career defined by years of public service and commitment to the rule of law.
The judiciary also prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul, while funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family at a later date.
