An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Enugu State, Sir Engr. Prince-Henry Hart Ucheonwu, has been honoured with the Silent Hero in Leadership and Development Award at the 2026 Nigeria Silent Heroes Awards in Abuja.
The prestigious recognition was presented during the eighth edition of the annual awards, which celebrated Nigerians whose quiet but remarkable contributions have continued to impact governance, security, leadership and community development across the country.
Prince-Henry Hart, an illustrious son of Enugu State, was recognised alongside an array of eminent Nigerians, including Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf; Niger State Governor, Mohammed Dago; Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal; Borno State Deputy Governor, Dr. Umar Usman Kadafur; the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu; the Chief of Army Staff, General Waidi Shaibu; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke; the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi; and the immediate past President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chief Christopher Isiguzo, among others.
Receiving the award before an audience of dignitaries, traditional rulers, senior security officers, politicians and business leaders, Prince-Henry Hart described the honour as a reminder of the enduring values of service, integrity and sacrifice rather than a celebration of personal achievement.
He expressed appreciation to the organisers for finding him worthy of the recognition, saying the award represented “a solemn affirmation of the enduring values of service, integrity, sacrifice and commitment to the common good.”
The Uzo-Uwani-born oil sector development expert said that at a time when public recognition is often driven by visibility and self-promotion, the Nigeria Silent Heroes Awards had carved a niche by celebrating individuals whose greatest achievements are measured by the lives they have positively impacted.
He also commended the organisers and members of the selection committee for sustaining what he described as a noble vision of recognising excellence without fanfare.
“I accept this award with immense humility because I am acutely aware that no meaningful achievement is ever the product of one individual alone,” he said.
Prince-Henry Hart dedicated the award to his family, mentors, colleagues, associates and supporters, acknowledging their encouragement and unwavering support over the years.
Earlier, the Founder of the Nigeria Silent Heroes Awards, Mr. Sunday Odita, said the initiative was established to honour Nigerians whose outstanding contributions to national development often go unnoticed despite their far-reaching impact.
According to Odita, while Nigeria has produced numerous celebrated leaders, entrepreneurs, entertainers, intellectuals and innovators, many citizens who are making meaningful contributions to society continue to work quietly without receiving the recognition they deserve.
He said the awards seek to spotlight such individuals and inspire a culture that values selfless service, integrity and impactful leadership.
