A 21-year-old suspect, Antonio Ogenetega, has narrated how he and his accomplice strangled a 17-year-old boy, Thomson Omokhafe Adams, and concealed his body in a desperate attempt to cover up the crime.
In a chilling confession, Antonio detailed his personal involvement, admitting he played an active role from the moment the plan was conceived to the final disposal of the victim’s body.
According to him, the teenager was lured to his apartment by a mutual associate who was known to the victim.
Unknown to the boy, Antonio said he was already aware of the plan and had prepared for his arrival. Chains, padlocks, and weapons, including a cutlass he held were put in place ahead of time.
He explained that while the victim sat with them unsuspectingly, he and his accomplice coordinated their next move, finalising how they would confront and intimidate him. Moments later, the situation turned violent.
Antonio admitted he went inside to retrieve the weapons as agreed, handing his accomplice a modified stick while he held onto the cutlass. The victim was then overpowered, forced to sit, and restrained, with chains locked around his legs.
The suspects admitted that he recorded videos and took pictures of the teenager while he was held captive. But what was initially described as an attempt to intimidate soon escalated into something far more sinister.
Antonio said his accomplice raised concerns that the victim knew them personally and could expose them if released. Faced with that fear, they decided not to let him go.
He confessed that he initiated the killing.
According to his statement, the room was darkened before he moved behind the victim and began to strangle him. After about a minute, he became weak and called on his accomplice to continue. Together, they ensured the teenager became unresponsive.
Antonio said they wrapped the body and placed it inside a travel bag, which they had purchased days earlier. In an attempt to avoid suspicion, they staged their movements to look like they were heading out for work, carrying along music equipment and other items.
He further admitted that he accompanied the body on a motorcycle, sitting beside the bag containing the remains as they transported it to a secluded area. Upon arrival, they dragged the bag into nearby bushland, removed the body, and abandoned it before leaving the scene.
The following day, Antonio said he contacted his father for transport money and fled the area alongside his accomplice.
However, their escape was short-lived.
The Lagos State Police Command later tracked and arrested Antonio and his accomplice, identified as Elijah Emmanuel, in Ikorodu following intelligence-led investigations.
Confirming the development, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Olayiwole Fatai, said the suspects are linked to the kidnapping and murder of the teenager, which occurred on April 22, 2026.
Police investigations further revealed that the suspects are also connected to an earlier case involving the abduction and killing of a female victim in November 2025, during which a ransom of ₦300,000 was reportedly paid.
The Commissioner noted that the arrests form part of wider operations carried out by the Command in April, which led to the apprehension of over 100 suspects for various crimes, including armed robbery, cultism, and kidnapping.
He assured that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
