Dangote Coal Mines Limited and host communities in Benue State have signed a landmark Community Development Agreement (CDA), a move hailed by government officials as a significant milestone in fostering sustainable development.
The agreement commits the company to executing key social projects that align with government efforts in improving the well-being of local communities.
Representative of Dangote Coal, Nuhu Elujah, described the pact as a “breakthrough in our effort to touch lives,” emphasizing that it will serve as a guiding document for the company’s engagement with the Abache community.
Under the agreement, Dangote Coal will implement critical infrastructure projects in education, healthcare, road construction, and water supply.
Speaking at the event, the representative of the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Ms. Bimbo Adams, described the deal as a “new era for peace and development,” while Mrs. Adijetu Usman, representing the federal ministry at the state level, reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the agreement benefits all stakeholders.
Ward Head of Ugbokolo, Chief Emmanuel Ikom, commended Dangote Coal for its ongoing projects across the three host communities in Okpokwu Local Government Area and urged the company to sustain its commitment.
Similarly, Mr. Sunday Onoko Aluh, representing the Abache community, praised the company’s efforts in bringing the agreement to fruition, pledging that the community would maintain peaceful relations with the company to ensure steady development.
Traditional leaders present at the signing lauded Dangote Coal for its various social interventions, describing the agreement as a “win-win” for all parties involved.
