The Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to driving innovation and improving regulatory practices in 2025 to benefit stakeholders, particularly telecommunications subscribers.
Reflecting on the Commission’s achievements in 2024, including the successful implementation of the NIN-SIM linkage policy and the Presidential designation of NCC’s infrastructure as Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII), Maida highlighted plans to build on these successes to strengthen Nigeria’s digital economy and national security.
Dr. Maida unveiled an upcoming initiative to provide real-world, crowd-sourced coverage maps that will empower subscribers with accurate insights into the performance of Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) in their areas. “No more guessing which network works best. Users will have access to actual performance data directly on our website,” he assured.
The EVC emphasized that the Commission’s 2025 initiatives will prioritize transparency and foster healthy competition among operators, ultimately improving service quality across the sector.
“2025 is a year of optimism. With the foundations laid last year, we are poised to transform the telecom landscape,” Maida stated confidently.
