The Executive Chairman of Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Hon John Campos Ogundare has appealed to Eti-Osa East LCDA residents to shun the planned nationwide protests against the government of President Bola Tinubu.
This is contained in an open letter posted by the Chairman on his social media pages.
Ogundare noted that Eti-Osa East LCDA believes in democratic government, especially efforts being made by President Bola Tinubu to provide good governance to grow the nation’s economy.
He added that despite difficulties occasioned by the realities of the nation’s economy, a lot of efforts were being made to get the nation back on a better pedestal for growth, development, and a stronger economy.
The council chairman has also been moving from wards to wards within the LCDA to preach the message of peaceful dialogue and patience to the people.
Earlier today (Tuesday) as well, Ogundare convened a stakeholders’ meeting in the area council to discuss peace and security matters.
Several issues as regards the planned protests and how peace and maximum security could be maintained in Eti-Osa East LCDA and its environs were deliberated upon.
Ogundare, however, warned of the negative outcome of the planned protests, citing the recent cases of violence and looting as reported in Surulere and some Northern states, even when the day of the protest has not begun.
Ogundare therefore called on the people to rethink and shelve their plans on the protest.
“We must seek peaceful dialogue with the government to voice our concerns and find amicable solutions. Protests and unrest can lead to unintended consequences that may harm our community and disrupt the harmony we cherish. Let us come together and trust in the process, knowing that there is light at the end of the tunnel. “
According to him, Eti-Osa East LCDA is committed and determined to see that peace and tranquillity are maintained in the local council and measures have been taken along with security operatives to resist any attempt to disrupt the relative peace being experienced in the local council.
