An Ikeja Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State on Wednesday cleared Comfort Emmanson of all charges related to allegations of disorderly conduct and assault during an Ibom Air flight.
Presiding Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami dismissed the case after the police officially dropped the five charges initially filed against her.
This development follows an announcement by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), who stated that the decision was made after engaging with key stakeholders in the aviation industry.
Keyamo explained that the outcome was influenced by a thorough review of the incident, public appeals, and the expression of remorse by the parties involved.
He confirmed that Ibom Air had agreed to withdraw its complaint against Emmanson, who was arrested in connection with the August 10 episode.
Emmanson had previously appeared in court on Monday, where she was granted bail set at ₦500,000 with two sureties.
However, she was detained at Kirikiri Correctional Centre after failing to meet the bail conditions.
During the court session, the prosecuting counsel, Oluwabunmi Adeitan, announced that recent developments warranted the withdrawal of the case.
A formal request to discontinue the proceedings was submitted and accepted by the court.
