Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Education has again ordered the temporary closure of Chrisland School, Opebi-Ikeja.
The closure followed the reported sudden death of a 12-year-old student of the School, Whitney Adeniran during the school inter-house sport.
A statement signed by the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, said the closure was ordered, pending the outcome of a full investigation into the unfortunate incident.
Mrs. Adefisayo, on behalf of the State Ministry of Education, however, commiserated with Mr. and Mrs. Adeniran, parents of Whitney, and prayed for the repose of her soul.
“We also note the impact of this unfortunate event on family, friends and acquaintance of Whytney and call for calm as we assure that no effort will be spared in investigating the incident”, the Commissioner stated.
It was earlier reported that a 12-year-old student of Chrisland International School, Opebi, Lagos, Desola Whitney Adeniran had died during the school inter-house sport.
The deceased mother, Mrs. Blessing Adeniran said the late Whitney was taken to an immunisation center in Agege dead on arrival.
The bereaved mother who sobs profusely in a video trending on social media, said her late daughter, Desola, left home hail and hearty without signs of any ailment.
A report alleged that Desola Whitney Adeniran slumped and died while attending her school, Chrisland School, Opebi’ inter-house sports, last Thursday, February 9 at the Agege Stadium.
Mrs. Adeniran, who attended the event said she became inquisitive and apprehensive when she noticed that her daughter, who was supposed to take part in the match past, was missing as all the houses filed passed.
She said in the course of a search for Whitney’s whereabouts, a staff of the school informed her casually that her daughter had fainted and was taken to a nearby hospital for attention.
On getting to the immunization centre in Agege where her daughter was rushed, she met her corpse, saying she was told her daughter suffered a cardiac arrest, slumped and died.
Mrs. Adeniran appealed to the management of the school to explain to the family how her 12-year-old daughter that has never suffered any cardiovascular-related health issues suddenly died.
